What We're Drinking

One of the most serious English Sparkling producers. This historic estate has been in the Goring family since 1743. The tiny 16-acre vineyard is close-planted on a steep south-facing chalk escarpment described as 'similar to the Côte des Blancs' in Champagne. The fruit is picked very selectively with quality being the absolute focus. The grapes are pressed gently using a traditional Coquard press. After three years on the lees this wine, composed of 45% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay & 22% Pinot Meunier, is hand disgorged and balanced with a minimal dosage of just 4g/L. It has a fine counterbalance between toasty richness and power from the wines élevage in Burgundian French Oak barrels, with racy acidity, tension and a focused chalky minerality.

Heitz Cellars: Celebrating Family

When we hand-picked Heitz Cellars to be our final Friday Night Tasting of 2013 in our Redwood City store, it was our intention to highlight a winery with whom we have a lot in common, and with whom we have the privilege of a wonderful relationship. Heitz Cellars is a family owned and operated business, like K&L, who have been making great wine for three generations. Their passion and commitment to quality and excellence shows in every bottle they make.

"In our family, most of life's memorable moments have involved sharing a bottle of fine wine with friends and family. Many of the personal and business relationships that we still treasure after three generations started around our dinner table.

When people choose Heitz Cellars, they envision a classic wine and pure elegance that they can count on year after year. That is the heart and soul of our heritage. Our practices and methods have evolved over the years, but the quality of our wines and the integrity of our approach to the business --- that is going to stay the same."    - Kathleen Heitz Myers, President

Heitz believes that true artistry sometimes requires restraint. They strive for the delicate balance between science and nature's bounty that allows their wines to express the genuine character of the varietal and to reflect their vineyard's unique geography within the Napa Valley.

Come out on Friday night and honor the hard work of Heitz Cellars. Our spectacular lineup is as follows, and the cost for this very special tasting is $15:

2012 Heitz Cellar Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc $17.99

2008 Heitz Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon $39.99

1999 Heitz Cellars "Trailside" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon $69.99

2003 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon $139.99

2009 Heitz Cellar "Ink Grade Vineyard" Napa Valley Zinfandel $24.99

 We will see you Friday!

Cheers,

Sarah
