What We're Drinking

2000 Labégorce, Margaux $39.99

A great value in Bordeaux! This bottle is mature enough to drink now, but has time in hand if you want to keep it in the cellar for the future. We love it for its laid back elegance and classic balance. A must try for your next nice steak dinner.

Adnams "Broadside" ESB, England 500ml (Previously $5)

Abbaye de St. Amand Blonde Ale, Belgium 330ml (Previously $4)

Adnams Brewery has been under the same family ownership since 1872. The tradition of brewing dates back six centuries in Southwold, England. Adnams Broadside contains two malts (Maris Otter Pale and Caramel) and two hops (Goldings and Fuggles). 7.3 percent by weight, 42 IBUs

2008 Amager Bryghus "Julebryg" Danish Holiday Ale, Denmark 500ml (Previously $10)

This noble winter beer winter offers complex aromas of fruit, alcohol and hops. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a hint of burnt caramel. It is also quite bitter, amazingly, and finishes with a persistent note of spicy hops. A brew for all seasons, but especially those cooler months when 9% abv is called for in a brew!

Brouwerij De Dochter Van De Korenaar "Bravoure" Smoked Ale, Belgium 11.2 oz (Previously $5.49) - limited

De Dochter Van De Korenaar translates to "the daughter of the corn ear is an old Flemish synonym for beer dating back to the 16th century. Now reincarnated as the moniker of a new, tiny craft brewery from the Belgian enclave of Baarle-Hertog (actually located about 10 kilometers across the Dutch border). And when De Dochter opened its doors in 2007, folks immediately started taking notice. Despite its newness, the beers turned out by this little gem suffer from no lack of experience. Brewer/owner Ronald Mengerink has been brewing beer since he was 16. His Bravoure is incredibly complex but still designed to be easy-drinking; perhaps the most subtle and balanced smoked beer we've ever come across.

Brouwerij De Dolle "Oerbier" Strong Dark Ale, Belgium 11.2oz (Previously $6)

Chouffe "McChouffe" Belgian Ale 750ml (Previously $12) - limited

This is an unfiltered dark beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle as well as in the keg. Behind its fruity flavour a slight hint of bitterness may be found. Great with mussels and fries!

High Water Brewing "Aphotic" Baltic Porter, California 22oz (Previously $15)

Seasonal release. Vintage: 2011. Released: January 10, 2012. Brewmaster's Notes: "This beer is one of my favorites. It was a blast to brew it and was really an evolving process. One third of the beer was barrel aged in 18 Year old Elijah Craig bourbon barrels, another third was aged in premium Brandy barrels and the final third was aged in stainless. After 4 months of aging the three different variations were combined back together resulting in the blend you have in front of you. Copious amounts of Carafa 1,2 and 3 as well as chocolate malts and Midnight Wheat malts were used. Deep, dark and delicious!!!!"

J.W. Lees "Manchester Star" Porter, England 16.9oz (Previously $7.49) - limited

Marble Brewery Double, England 750ml (Previously $20) - limited

Microbrasserie Charlevoix "Dominus Vobiscum" Double, Canada 500ml (Previously $8) - limited

The Belgian-style dubbel has a complex aroma of anise, candied fruit, and raisins. A subtle bitterness blends with licorice, mocha, and sarsaparilla, revealing Madeira wine, caramel, and peppery spice in the finish. This is the most difficult-to-make beer that Charlevoix brews, it is unfiltered, allowing the beer's complexity to evolve and change over time. 8.5% ABV

Midtfyns Bryghus Imperial Stout, Denmark 500ml (Previously $10)

Mikkeller "Bourbon Barrel Aged From Via To" Holiday Ale, Denmark 375ml (Previously $15)

The label is designed as a 'From To' card ... fill in the names and put the bottle under the Christmas tree. The perfect Christmas gift for the lazy man/woman! Ingredients: Water, malt (pale, smoked, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), roasted barley, dark cassonade, hops (amarillo, saaz and cascade), spices (star anise, clove, cinnamon and coriander seeds) and yeast. 8% abv
